July 14, 2022: In an unfortunate incident, a man jumped from the Saraighat Bridge in Guwahati into the Brahmaputra River on Thursday morning. The identity of the person is still not known. According to eyewitness account, the person parked his two-wheeler by the side of the bridge and jumped over.
Police has reached the spot and search operation is underway.
This is the second incident of a person jumping into the river from Saraighat bridge. On Sunday, July 10, a man from Barpeta had committed suicide from the old Saraighat bridge adjacent to the new one.
