November 18, 2022: An illicit liquor (sulai) distillery was seized at Khumtai in Golaghat during an anti-liquor search operation carried out by police on Thursday.
During the search operation, Khumtai Police had to travel the suspected site where the liquor was getting manufactured by boat crossing through the shores of river Dhansiri.
The operation took place under the surveillance of Police Officer Abhilash Borah.
The police recovered 3 large containers hidden inside the sand which contained around 600 litres of illicit liqour. Besides that the police also recovered various items for manufacturing of the liquor.
The police destroyed the manufacturing machinery and threw the items into the flowing river.
However, the owner fled from the spot as soon as he got to knew that police was initiating an anti-liquor operation.
