January 12, 2021: The first batch of Covid-19 vaccine "Covishield" reached Guwahati Tuesday evening.
The SpiceJet flight carrying the consignment of the vaccine landed at LGBI airport at around 5 PM.
The flight departed from Pune at around 10 AM.
The consignment has 20 boxes containing 12,000 doses each. Of these, 17 boxes are for Assam and three for Meghalaya.
From the airport, the vaccines were shifted to the cold storage at the health directorate. The vaccines will be disbursed among the districts from Wednesday.
The government will start the vaccination drive from January 16. Initially, 100 frontline Covid warriors from each district will be vaccinated.
