Guwahati: The cybercrime branch of the Guwahati Police in apprehended two individuals for their alleged involvement in selling explicit images of a young woman on Telegram Messenger.
The duo identified as Gautam Das (27) and Manshab Biswas (19) was arrested late at night from Hatigaon, Guwahati.
According to police sources, Das, the victim's former boyfriend and a resident of Kahilipara, shared her private photos with a criminal network.
The gang then used these images for blackmailing purposes, with Biswas, a resident of Dispur, executing the blackmailing activities.
The arrests were made in connection with Cyber PS Case No 06/25, with the accused facing charges under various sections of the IT Act, 2000, and the BNS, 2023.
Further investigations are underway to identify other individuals involved in the racket and to uncover the extent of the criminal network.
