Guwahati: Two men accused of gang-raping a 30-year-old woman were arrested in Hatsingimari of South Salmara-Mankachar, Assam on Friday.
The accused were identified as Shona Mian and Badshah Mian. The alleged rapists were arrested from Manullapara of Hatsingimari in Mankachar.
The incident as per reports occurred on March 10. The victim's mother had filed a complaint with the Kharuabandha police station regarding the incident.
Based on the complaint, the police arrested the two suspects. However, another suspect, Akhirul Islam, is still at large.
Further investigation regarding the incident is still on.
In another incident, a 65-year-old man was arrested in Bokakhat of Golaghat district for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl.
The accused has been identified as Upen Bora alias Bupai. He allegedly invited the 10-year-old girl inside his house to fetch milk. However, he then molested the minor.
The girl following the incident informed her mother. Based on the girl's statement, the family approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Police immediately detained Bora and initiated further investigation.
