Guwahati: The Assam Police have successfully seized 98,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 30 crore in Cachar, along with suspected heroin in Dhubri, in two separate operations.
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the seizures.
Reports stated that a team of the Cachar police, acting on credible intelligence, conducted a raid in Chandrapur Part II, Kakmara, under Lakhipur Police Station, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of the Yaba tablets, along with Rs 3.5 lakh in cash.
In another operation, the Assam police conducted a raid in Jhagrarpar, Dhubri, resulting in the recovery of 23.35 grams of suspected heroin from a house.
Akbar Ali, a resident of Jhagrarpar's Part-I area, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
The police stated that legal proceedings are underway, and further investigations are being conducted to uncover possible links to a larger drug network.
Following the seizure, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for their efforts with a social media post that read, "Massive Drug Bust in Assam: 98,000 Yaba Tablets Seized Worth Rs 30 Crore!"
