June 26, 2021: On occasion of Ambubachi Nivritti today Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma visited Kamakhya Temple.
He did Parikrama and sought blessings for all-round development of Assam, and health & prosperity of all sections of society.
“I did ‘parikrama’ at Shaktipeeth Maa Kamakhya Temple today with wife @rinikibsharma to offer prayers on the holy occasion of Ambubachi Nivritti. Sought Maa’s blessings for all-round development of Assam, and health & prosperity of all sections of society,” tweeted CM Sarma.
The doors of Kamakhya temple was closed on 22 June and was opened today after 4 days at sunrise. But like last year this year also the Ambubachi Mela/rituals was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Every year, the temple remains closed for four days in the belief that the annual menstrual cycle of Goddess Kamakhya falls during this period. It reopens on the fifth day when devotees crowd the place of worship to seek the blessings of the goddess.
