August 29, 2020: The Meghalaya Government has decided to re-open three popular tourist spots in and around the state capital to locals only from September 1 on a trial basis amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Announcing the decision, AL Hek, Minister of Health and Family Planning of Meghalaya informed that the state government has decided to re-open three tourist spots that remained shut due to lockdown since past few months.

He said that the state government will open only three spots which include Elephant Falls, Nehru Park and Wards Lake under strict protocol “on a trial basis”.

He further added strict protocols will have to be maintained keeping in mind the health concerns of people visiting the places.
