July 26, 2020: As the state recorded its first Covid-19 death on Sunday, the Sikkim government has decided to extend the lockdown for another 5 days.
A 74-year old businessman, a resident of Rongli sub-division of East Sikkim district died due to Covid-19 early Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, the statewide lockdown has been extended till August 1. The 6-day total lockdown which was announced last week was scheduled to end on Sunday.
The government in a notification said, “After careful consideration of the situation, it has been decided to extend the period of lockdown in the entire state of Sikkim till 6 am of August 1, 2020.”
The state so far has total 499 cases of which 357 are active cases.
