November 9, 2020: Newly elected Hockey India president Gyanendro Ningombam was accorded a grand welcome on Sunday by the Manipur Hockey at the premises of Imphal International Airport.

Ningombam is the first person from Manipur and North East to hold such a post of a National sports federation.

He was elected unopposed at the 10th Hockey India congress held in New Delhi on 6 November last, said a statement of Manipur Hockey.

Gyanendro had expressed optimism that Hockey development will be possible in the State with the commitment of the State Government, it said.
