July 23, 2020: Federal employees of the United States would be barred from using Chinese app TikTok on their govt allotted mobiles. 



The US Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs has passed a Bill in this regard and will be taken up for voting by the Senate.



The move came barely a month after India banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok citing safety concerns.

Few days ago, the House of Representatives too voted to bar the Federal employees from downloading TikTok on their govt-issued mobiles.
