December 28, 2020: Ratan Tata, one of India's most loved industrialists, has turned 83 today.

Most of all, though, netizens took to social media to wish him on his birthday.

Ratan Tata is one of the most successful businessmen in the country.  The one thing that differentiates Ratan Tata from other industrialists is his values. He gives top priority to kindness and empathy while conducting business.

He became the fifth chairman of Tata Group in 1991 after JRD Tata. During his tenure as the salt-to software conglomerate's chairman he took many initiatives to take Tata Group's business to a new high. He started Tata Teleservices and also designed and launched the Indica car, India's first indigenously developed car. The group acquired VSNL, which was India's top international telecom service provider at that time, under his reign.

Ratan Tata is also well known as a successful investor. He has invested money in many startups at the early stage which have now become unicorns. He invested in cab aggregator Ola. Other than Ola, he has also invested in successful startups like Paytm, CarDekho, Curefit, Snapdeal, Abra, ClimaCell, FirstCry, Urban Ladder, Lenskart and many more.

The Tata Sons' Chairman Emeritus is also well known for his philanthropy. When former Indian President K. R. Narayanan bestowed the Padma Bhushan Award upon Ratan Tata for his distinguished service to the country, he eagerly mentioned that he went to university on a Tata scholarship.

He tackled philanthropy with the same zeal in which he stewarded the Tata Group.

Under his leadership Tata Trust approached the daunting problem of child malnutrition from multiple angles, fortifying staple foods, focusing on maternal health, and aiming to alleviate poverty, along with providing 60,000 meals a day throughout their programs.
