President, VP among leaders to wish PM Narendra Modi on his 70th birthday

September 17, 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday celebrated 70th birthday. President Ram Nath Kovind greeted the Prime Minister on his birthday.

The President took to Twitter and said, "Happy birthday to you Narendra Modi ji. You have set an example of Indian life values and democratic tradition. I pray to God that he always keeps you healthy and happy and the nation continues to receive your invaluable services." (Roughly translated from Hindi).

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday extended best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Modi in Hindi, the Vice President said, "Best wishes on your birthday. On this occasion, I congratulate you on your hard work in taking the country to new heights.'

"In reality, it is a matter of happiness that under your dynamic leadership, the government is solving different challenges in an effective manner. Your call for Atmanirbhar Bharat will surely inspire the country and in the coming years will pave the way for the formation of Atmanirbhar Bharat," Naidu said in the letter (roughly translated from Hindi).

"I pray to God that you remain healthy and happy and remain attached with service of the nation for many years," he added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also tweeted their greetings on the occasion.

"PM Modi has devoted each moment of his life towards making India strong, safe and self-reliant. I am lucky to serve the nation under his leadership. I along with all countrymen wish for PM's healthy and long life," Amit Shah tweeted in Hindi.

Singh in his greeting said that PM Modi has worked diligently towards empowering the poor and marginalised and the country has benefited from his leadership.

"Greetings and warm wishes to PM Narendra Modi on his birthday. India has benefited tremendously from his astute leadership, firm conviction and decisive action. He has been working assiduously towards empowering the poor and marginalised. Praying for his good health and long life," Singh tweeted.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 70th birthday.

"Wishing Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji a happy birthday," the Congress leader tweeted.

While wishing Modi, Kejriwal prayed for his long and healthy life.

"Narendra Modi wishing you a very happy birthday sir. I pray for your long and healthy life," said Kejriwal.

The BJP has organised a "Seva Saptah" from September 14 to 20 coinciding with the Prime Minister's birthday.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister Piyush Goyal also wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 70th birthday.

Birla said that the Prime Minister's commitment to service of masses has motivated others to work harder for the betterment of humanity and service of the country.

"Best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modiji on his birthday. Your life dedicated to fulfiling the pledge of service motivates all to work for the betterment of humanity and serving the country. I pray to God for your healthy and long life," Birla tweeted (roughly translated in English).

Similarly, Goyal also extended his wishes to the Prime Minister on the occasion and said that work done by him, especially during the COVID-19 crisis phase, showed his far-sightedness.

"Best wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is committed to the service of the country and has made India prestigious as a global power. Even during this COVID phase, the work done by you in making the country Atmanirbhar shows your far-sightedness," Goyal said.

Former National President of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and senior leader Murli Manohar Joshi extended greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 70th birthday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 70th birthday and said that India is successfully moving along the path of socio-economic, scientific and technical development under his leadership.

In a message posted by the Russian Embassy on its Facebook page, Putin said he looks forward to continuing constructive dialogue with PM Modi and work closely together on topical issues of the bilateral and international agenda.

Besides Putin, Chairman of the Russian Government, Mikhail Mishustin, and Russian Ambassador Nikolay Kudashev extended their wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he turned 70.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a week-long campaign namely 'Seva Saptah' on September 14 to mark the 70th birthday of the Prime Minister. Several social initiatives are being undertaken by the party leaders and workers across the country. The campaign will continue till September 20.
