August 13: The death toll from Covid-19 in Assam increased to 169 with 8 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. Total 2796 fresh cases including 418 in Guwahati were also reported on Thursday.

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma tweeted that altogether 2796 COVID cases detected out of 61318 tests done in last 24 hours. Of these, Kamrup (M)- 418, Cachar- 307, Kamrup (R)- 248 and Dibrugarh- 207. With this, the total cases has gone up to 71,795 with 49,383 recovered and 22,240 active cases. He informed that the state's positivity rate has also improved to 4.55%.

In another tweet, he informed that total 8 persons lost their lives in Covid-19 on Thursday. The deceased patients are Dhaneshwar Sinha (78) of Karimganj; Biswajit Kar (53) of Cachar; Anita Biswas (47), Bipul Saikia (53), Bholanath Das (39) and Sofiquddin Laskar (58) of Dibrugarh; Khogesori Devi (53) of Lakhimpur and Mangal C Ray (43) of Bongaigaon. Total 2,174 patients were discharged on Thursday.
