August 1, 2020: With the Centre hinting that educational institutes may be opened after September 1, the Assam government has prepared a roadmap for opening of schools and colleges.



As per the plan, all teaching and non-teaching staff of schools have to undergo a Covid test between August 23-30.



Assam Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma said that classes for 5th, 6th,7th and 8th standard students will be held under open sky. The students will be divided into groups of 15.



Classes for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th standard will be held in classroom. Classes of 9th and 11th standard will be held twice a week while classes of 10th and 12th standards will be held for 4 days a week.

The classes will not exceed maximum duration of 3 hours. While attendance of students in the classes is not compulsory, the teachers' attendance will be mandatory every day.
