February 1, 2020: Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra on Saturday has sent a legal notice to budget-carrier IndiGo after the airline banned him from flying with it for a period of six months following his alleged heckling Journalist Arnab Goswami aboard one of its planes.

Reportedly, the legal notice has asked the airline to immediately revoke the six-month flying ban and tender unconditional apology to be published in newspapers, TV channels and social media platforms.

Kamra has sought Rs 25 Lakh as compensation for having caused him mental pain and agony as well as the losses incurred due to cancellation of his scheduled events in the country and overseas.

The pilot in command on the Indigo flight, who saw the confrontation between comedian Kunal Kamra and journalist Arnab Goswami, has written to Indigo management stating that the airline should have consulted him before banning the comedian. The captain has said that while Kamra's behavior was unsavory, it was not qualifying of a level 1 unruly passenger.

The pilot also said, "Pilots can attest to incidents which were similar and worse in nature that were not deemed unruly".
