January 21, 2020: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Chess King Vishwanathan Anand have been dropped from the All India Council of Sports (AICS) formed by the Narendra Modi government. This council has been formed to address issues related to the development of sports in the country. Cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Krishnamachari Srikkanth have been included in this council.

As per reports, there was no discussion in the two meetings of the committee in the name of Sachin Tendulkar and Anand.

Cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Krishnamachari Srikkanth have been included in the panel as its new members. The AICS was formed in December 2015 during the tenure of then sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Some of the new members who have been included in the commit are Limba Ram (archery), PT Usha (athletics), Bachendri Pal (mountaineering), Deepa Malik (para-athlete), Anjali Bhagwat (shooting), Renedy Singh (football) and Yogeshwar Dutt (wrestling).
