NSCN/GPRN-K appoints new general secretary

September 13, 2020: The The Khango Konyak faction of the NSCN (K) has appointed Newell Naga as its new general secretary. The move came after his predecessor Isak  Chishi (Sumi) was expelled.

September 13, 2020: The The Khango Konyak faction of the NSCN (K) has appointed Newell Naga as its new general secretary. The move came after his predecessor Isak  Chishi (Sumi) was expelled by the outfit.

The faction's President, Lt Gen (retired) Khango Konyak announced that the decision was made at a meeting of the top leadership of the NSCN/GPRN-K (Khango), held at its Council Headquarters on Saturday. In a press statement, he said that the “house resolved” to expel its incumbent General Secretary from active membership “with immediate effect for violation of Yezhabo, as per Article 18 and misuse of Article 23.”

He has been accused of “nepotism, tribalism, failed to follow and adhere to the Joint Council meeting resolution adopted on 23rd Oct 2018, superseding President’s power and authority, seized the Office of Home Ministry, deployment and maintaining the general strength of Military unit which is against the authority of Chief of Army Staff and General Headquarter.”

The group informed that Newell Naga was “unanimously selected” as the new General Secretary of the outfit.
