Nagaland reports its first positive COVID-19 case

April 13, 2020: Nagaland has listed its name in the country's COVID-19 positive map on Sunday as a person from Dimapur has tested positive for the deadly virus.

Assam's Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter to inform this. He tweeted, "A private hospital in Dimapur, Nagaland referred a patient to GMCH after he was found with symptoms of #COVID19. He has tested positive and is undergoing treatment."

The patient is now undergoing treatment at Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

As per reports, the patient had reportedly flown in to Dimapur from Kolkata on March 24 and after few days, developed symptoms for COVID-19. The patient was then admitted to a private hospital in Dimapur and later referred to GMCH for test.

With the fresh COVID-19 case, the total number of positive cases in the Northeastern region has surged to 35, including 29 from Assam, two each from Manipur and Tripura, and one each from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

Meanwhile, one COVID-19 positive patient died in Assam on April 10.

On the other hand, the first COVID-19 patient of Manipur, who was undergoing treatment at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal, was discharged from the hospital on Sunday.
