June 29, 2020: The Meghalaya government on Monday has decided that the locations in Meghalaya bordering Guwahati i.e Byrnihat, Jorabat till Khanapara will be under lockdown due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in Assam.



Also, inter-state movement will continue to be restricted as DC will issue necessary orders accordingly.



Informing this Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted, “Government has decided that the locations in Meghalaya bordering Guwahati i.e Byrnihat, Jorabat till Khanapara will be under #lockdown due to the surge in #Covid_19 cases in #Assam. Inter-state movement continues to be restricted. DC will issue necessary orders accordingly.”

On Monday, total COVID-19 cases in Assam rose to 7,165 out of which 2,338 are active cases. The Assam govt. on Friday announced a 14-day lockdown in Guwahati city from 29 June to 12 July along with weekend lockdown in other towns due to the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases.
