October 21, 2020: An Assam Rifles jawan was killed in an early morning ambush by suspected NSCN-IM in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.



The incident occurred at around 6.30 AM at Sanlema village under Tirap district. The NSCN-IM rebels laid an ambush on the Assam Rifles team returning from patrolling in Leju near the Indo-Myanmar border.



Soon, a fierce gunbattle ensued in which an Assam Rifles jawan was martyred and another was injured. After some time, the NSCN(IM) militants managed to escape.

Now, Assam Rifles and army have cordoned off the area and a search operation is going on to nab the militants.
