June 13: With the onset of monsoon, many parts of the state of Assam are left submerged under water.
Â
Bokakhat, Karimganj and Kaziranga have been affected due to the flash flood. Landslides have also been reported in some parts of Assam.
For the last 24 hours the NH37 along with 10 villages and many schools have been submerged under water due to flash flood and has led to disruption in communication near the Bokakhat sub-division in Golaghat district.
Similarly, though kaziranga was affected by the flash flood, no animal casualty has been reported from the Kaziranga National Park.Â
However, the situation is worse in Hailakandi. The overflowing Katakhal River has inundated several villages in the district and also damaged one embankment. Over 30 villages affected so far.
Search and rescue teams from The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to provide aid to the flood affected districts and sub-divisions of Assam.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s rainfall forecast, due to an upper air cyclonic circulation over Assam and Meghalaya, the state is going to experience enhanced rainfall.
