August 1, 2020: Former Samajwadi Party leader and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh passed away on Saturday in Singapore. He was 64 and had been hospitalised for a long time.



Amar Singh had been battling health issues for several years. In 2015, he was once rushed to the Fortis Hospital in New Delhi after he complained of uneasiness and pain.



He is survived by wife Pankaja and twin daughters. Back in 2013, Amar Singh had suffered kidney failure in Dubai. Earlier in March 2020 when rumors surfaced about Amar Singh's death, the former Samajwadi Party leader had said: "Tiger Zinda Hai."



Amar Singh was born on January 27, 1956, in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. He was an alumnus of St. Xavier's College and University College of Law, Kolkata, from where he earned his LLB.

Singh's mortal remains are being handed over to his family, and will most likely be brought to Delhi.
