August 18, 2020. Kiram Mazumdar Shaw, the Chairperson and Managing Director of Biocon is tested positive for Covid 19. The entrepreneur herself announced her Covid status.

In a tweet on Monday night, she said, "I have added to the Covid count by testing positive. Mild symptoms n I hope it stays that way."

Her Company is one of the three companies doing research on Covid vaccines. After her announcement, her Twitter wall was full of people wishing her a speedy recovery.

Biocon is one of the companies which is in the race of making drugs to fight COVID-19, and in July, received the approval of the Drug Controller General of India to market a repurposed injection, Itolizumab. It was originally launched in 2013 for treating chronic plaque psoriasis.
