The decision may also be viewed on the backdrop of Unlock 5.0, wherein the state governments have been asked to resume normalcy outside containment zones.



The state government said that over 19 lakh samples have been tested so far of which over 1.19 lakh have been tested positive. A total of 3,641 people have died in the state till date, while 1.02 lakh have recovered. According to the health department, there are over 12000 active cases in Punjab.



The state Medical informed, "Of the latest fatalities, eight were reported from Ludhiana; six from Jalandhar; five from Amritsar; three each from Fatehgarh Sahib, Hoshiarpur and Rupnagar; two each from Gurdaspur and Muktsar; and one each from SBS Nagar, Kapurthala, Moga, Mohali, Patiala and Ferozepur".
