July 27, 2020: The first batch of Rafale aircrafts have taken off from France. First 5 planes took off from Istress Airbase of France at 8.30 AM on Monday.

July 27, 2020: The first batch of Rafale aircrafts have taken off from France. First 5 planes took off from Istress Airbase of France at 8.30 AM on Monday.
The planes will reach the Ambala airbase on July 29. The contingent will have a stop at UAE before joining the Indian Air Force's 17 Squadron Golden Arrows. 
However, there are speculations that the number could be 6.
These aircrafts can be operationally deployed within a year.
The government had signed an agreement with French defence major Dassault Aviation in 2016 for supply of 36 Rafale aircrafts. As per the agreement, 12 aircrafts to be delivered every year.
