April 29, 2020: Actor Irrfan Khan has died on Wednesday at the age of 54 after being admitted to Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital a day before, where he was under observation for colon infection. Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons - Babil and Ayan.

Bollywood producer Shoojit Sircar was the first to open up about Khan's demise.

The actor in 2018 had announced that he'd been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour and had been undergoing treatment in the UK.

Irrfan lost his mother, Saeeda Begum, earlier this week, and sadly he couldn't attend his funeral due to the nationwide lockdown. It was reported that the actor wasn't in India at the time of her death.

Earlier this year, Irrfan kept away from the promotions of Angrezi Medium, his latest film that released in March, due to his health. The theatrical release of Angrezi Medium was also affected due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. In fact, Irrfan was under treatment while they were shooting for the film in UK.

Irrfan's career spanned several decades and industries. Acclaimed for his roles in Indian cinema, the actor was also involved in several international blockbusters such as Slumdog Millionaire, Jurassic World, The Amazing Spider-Man and Life of Pi.

In India, his most famous films include his debut, the Academy Award nominated Salaam Bombay!, Maqbool (2004), Paan Singh Tomar (2011), The Lunchbox (2013), Haider (2014), Gunday (2014), Piku (2015) and Talvar (2015) and Hindi Medium (2017).
