September 11, 2020: Concerned over the growing number of Covid cases in Guwahati, the Guwahati Police has toughened its stand on Covid protocol violators.

"I appeal to the people of Guwahati to wear mask at all public places and to wear them properly. We have taken strict measures against violators. Our personnel in plain cloth are monitoring the implementation of this order. If someone is found violating the order, we are going to initiate legal action against them apart from fine," said Guwahati Police Commissioner MP Gupta.

He also informed that so far. Rs 16 lakh have been collected from people not wearing masks.

On Thursday, 646 positive cases were detected in Guwahati alone.
