November 19, 2020: Polls to the Tiwa Autonomous Council will be held in Kamrup(Metro) district for the first time. The poll is scheduled for December 17 while the counting will be held on December 19.
Six constituencies going to poll come under the jurisdiction of Kamrup(Metro) for which the district administration has made elaborate arrangements.
A total of 78180 voters including 38360 male and 39820 female voters will exercise their franchise.
The constituencies where poll will be held are Dimoria, Sonapur, Thang Ampri, Digaru, Khetri and Ampri.
Total 100 polling stations will be set up and voting will be done via ballot papers. The election code of conduct has already come into effect.
The polling will be held following all Covid-19 protocols. The parties and candidates shall have to follow the administration's instructions. No polling office to be allowed in front of any government office. They will also have to obtain NOC from house owners for pasting posters on walls of private residences. Besides, campaign will not be allowed in places of worship.
The candidates will be allowed to use only 2 vehicles for campaigning while they can use mike from 8 AM to 8 PM. Prior permission from administration will be required to hold any election meeting or campaign rally.
