July 31, 2020: Assam recorded the highest single day spike in Covid-19 cases on Thursday. Altogether 2112 new COVID cases were detected in Assam out of 41028 tests in last 24 hrs.

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma tweeted that out of these, Kamrup (M) has 283 cases, Nagaon- 211, Kamrup (R)-210 and Sonitpur-132.

The state's positivity rate is 5.14%. So far, the state has 38,407 cases. Total active patients are 9230 while 29080 have been discharged from various hospitals. 1248 patients were discharged on Thursday alone.

Meanwhile, the rapid testing at shops and commercial establishments in Guwahati has received well response from the city traders. On Thursday, 4267 Rapid Antigen Tests were done apart from 1126 RT-PCR tests. A total 193 cases were detected positive in the Rapid Antigen Tests.
