October 21, 2020: Gautam Sarma, former Secretary of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, has been critically ill  and facing great financial hardships. Sarma, who had made substantial contribution in building up the Kalakshetra as an ideal and robust organisation, needs public empathy and appeal to  financial help from the all of the people of Assam.

Stating this, a joint statement by senior journalist Dhirendra Nath  Chakravartty, former parliamentarian Arun Sharma, renowned actor Pranjal Saikia and social activist Ranajit Sutradhar urged people of Assam to come out for Sarma’s proper treatment at the earliest.

The joint statement said that Sharma lost his wife and sons and became mentally ill and more than this, he is suffering from some serious ailments.

The statement requested those interested to help to deposit money in the account of Sharma's elder sister Deepjani Sarma in State Bank of India (A/C 20024335204, IFSC SBIN0004420. Ph. 94353-07972).
