Aug 6, 2020: A light drizzle in the afternoon on Thursday brought some respite for the Guwahati dwellers from the extreme heat wave they have been experiencing for the last few days.

A light shower of rain occurred in the afternoon in most parts of the city. Though the spell did not last long, it gave some much needed relief to the people.

The city's highest temperature recorded on Thursday was 36 degree celsius. According to the met department, the temperature to remain almost same for the next few days, but thundershowers may occur.

On Wednesday, the city recorded maximum temperature of 38.6 degree celsius which was the highest in the last 70 years. People of Guwahati have been waiting for some heavy showers for the last few days to provide them relief from the scorching heat.
