October 13, 2020: Finally, the wait is over. The much-awaited Covid-19 vaccine will be available by early next year.

"The Central government has asked us to be ready for vaccination programme anytime between January to July next", informed Assam health and family welfare minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma.

He said that initially, those above 60 years of age and the frontline staff will be given preference. After that, the vaccination will be opened for all.

These vaccines will be sourced from 6-7 sources including Russia, AstraZeneca and Bharat Biotech. As all the vaccines are under trial phases, the central government expects that the third phase trials of these vaccines will be completed by then and will be available commercially.
