January 19, 2021: One person allegedly committed suicide at Hatigaon of Guwahati on Tuesday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Kishan Gupta, a native of Faridabad, UP.

The incident occurred at around 6.30 pm when the neighbours of the deceased heard sound of gunshot and informed police. Team from Hatigaon PS rushed to spot and found the door locked from inside. They entered the room through the window and found the man lying in a pool of blood on a bed. A pistol and a mobile were found lying near his body.

Gupta was a PSO of Habib Mohammad Choudhuri, a Hojai businessman and had joined his duty only on January 16.

Today noon, he returned from Hojai and told his friends that he was not liking the job. Few hours later, he shot himself.

Police are investigating the reason which prompted him to take the supreme step.
