October 22, 2020: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonwal on Thursday  chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers. The Cabinet recommended proclamation of Governor's Rule in BTC till elections are held and requested the State Election Commission to finish election process in BTC by December 15.

The CoM decided to provide funding to Gaushalas to fill up gap in funds required to provide food to cows.

The meeting also decided to give ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh to the next of kin of Assam Police constable Raben Das, who died while chasing cattle smugglers.

The cabinet also approved that government will bear land acquisition cost of land required for approach roads of Majuli bridge.

The meeting also approved exemption from SGST on construction of Majuli bridge and royalty, local taxes on sand, steel, bitumen etc. to be used in the bridge.
