August 10, 2020: Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. The chief of Assam Police was tested after one of his PSO was infected with the virus.

Mahanta has put himself under home isolation after he tested positive for the virus. Earlier, a PSO of his had tested Covid positive on August 6.

Till Monday, 2259 police personnel have tested positive of which 1734 have already been cured/discharged.
