September 11, 2020: The All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) have formally announced the launching of a new political party.

While making the advisory committee report public, the leadership of the two organisations announced that Assam Accord will be the core issue for the new political party.

Dr. Krishnagopal Bhattacharya and Basanta Deka have been entrusted the responsibility of chief convenor of the proposed party and have been requested to announce the full-fledged committee by September 15.

AASU president Dipanka Nath said that the AASU and AJYCP will remain out of the proposed party and will maintain their apolitical character.

While stressing on the need of unification of regional forces to defeat the national parties, AJYCP president Palash Changmai said that there is a need for a strong third font.

AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said that launched with the motto of "Assam First, Always and Ever," the proposed party will function within the framework of Indian Constitution and federal structure. The advisory committee has suggested the party unify all sections of the society against the religious polarisation.

AASU adviser Dr. Samujjwal Bhattacharya was absent in the pressmeet owing to his ill health.
