October 11, 2020: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police on Sunday conducted search at a company owned by one of the accused in SI Scam.



The search was conducted in Trishna Global Pvt. Ltd located at Geetanagar and important recoveries were made which include cash worth Rs. 4,20,500/- along with 9 nos. of signed blank cheques and 2 nos. of laptops. One Renault Duster vehicle bearing registration no. AS-01 DN 2490 and one Maruti Suzuki Ignis vehicle bearing registration no. AS 01 EG 0685 have also been seized.



Arrested accused person in SC Scam Saroj Sarma is one of the Directors of the company.



In connection with CID P/S Case No. 21/2020, raids were conducted Bongaigaon, Barpeta and Chirang districts on Saturday night and a total of Rs. 5,35,38,640 were recovered during the search.



Cash worth Rs. 3,33,36,400/- recovered from the residence of Tarini Banikya of Borigaon, Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon district. Cash worth Rs. 15,46,500 recovered from the quarter of Pradip Mazumdar, Office Superintendent 2, New colony, Bongaigaon. Cash worth Rs. 1,83,55,740 recovered from the residence of Devraj Das, Gandhi Nagar, Barpeta. Devraj Das is Chief Loco Inspector (Mechanical Department), Railways, posted in Bongaigaon.



Cash worth Rs. 3,00,000 recovered from the residence of Sultan Ali Ahmed of Baikhungaon, under Dhaligaon police station. Sultan Ali Ahmed was not found at his residence during search.



The CID on Sunday arrested Pradip Mazumdar, Rupam Das and Tarini Banikya and brought to CID head quarter on Transit Remand. Another person Manjit Bora of Kahilipara has been arrested in connection with the case. He is a close associate of arrested accused Prasanta Kumar Dutta. So far, CID arrested 20 persons and seized three vehicles.
