October 7, 2020: One of the prime accused in the sub-inspector (SI) recruitment scam, former DIG of Assam Police, PK Dutta has been sent to six day custody of CID.



As per reports, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police sought for 7-day custody of Dutta. However, the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup Metro district sent Dutta to the custody of CID for 6 days.



Before interrogation by the CID, the court directed that Dutta’s health be checked up in the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).



The former DIG was brought to Assam following his arrest on Tuesday from India-Nepal Border at Kakarbhitta by a team of Assam Police.



Dutta was arrested in a case No 21/20 IPC Sec 120(B), 409 RW 66(B) registered by the CID of Assam Police.



He had been on the run since the scam came to light. Earlier, BJP leader Diban Deka, another prime accused of the scam had surrendered before Assam Police on October 1.



It may be added that the Assam Police had announced a monetary reward of Rs 1 lakh for people providing information on the whereabouts of Diban Deka and PK Dutta.
