August 31, 2020: The rush at the Aadhaar office in Guwahati continues on Monday too as people from far flung areas had queued for Aadhaar enrolment. These people are seen violating all Covid safety protocols.

Like in the previous days, people from areas like Darrang, Boko, Goreswar etc had come to the Aadhaar office since early hours on Monday. Some had even come as early as 2 AM with a hope to get the enrolment.

The rush is caused by the government's announcement of some schemes that can be availed by Aadhaar holders only. Fearing that they might miss the benefits of those schemes, poor people from the far flung areas had come in groups hiring vehicles.

People are seen queuing up without maintaining any social distancing and some even without masks. When asked, they said that they are aware of the norms. But they have no other option left than to come by themselves risking their lives.
