November 6, 2020: Despite the intervention of the government, there seems to be no respite from the skyrocketing price of essential items.

Items like onion, potato and vegetables are still sold at higher prices though the wholesalers have reduced the price.

Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday had held meeting with concerned departments and traders' bodies and asked them to supply items at lower prices.

The wholesale traders have alleged that after this order, they are suffering loss as they bought the items at higher prices.

The retail traders say that adding the transportation cost, it becomes impossible for them to sell at the rate fixed by the government.

The food and civil supplies department on Thursday had formed a task force to monitor the price rise.
