August 15, 2020: The BJP government in Assam is committed to implement the Assam Accord in letter and spirit. Amidst the controversy over the implementation of the Clause 6 of Assam Accord, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal asserted this and assured that no compromise would be made in this regard.





Sonowal, while delivering his Independence Day speech at the historic Judge's Field, said that the upper age limit in Group C and D posts will be extending to 40 years from the present 38 years. He hoped that this will provide relief to the unemployed youths of the state.





Sonowal unfurled the national tricolour at the Judge's Field on the occasion of the 74th Independence Day. In his speech, he also announced to set up a Centre of Excellence for Organic Agriculture and milk processing centres at Morigaon, Sonitpur and Bajali.





The CM also informed that the during the lockdown, the state did Rs 852 cr busines in vegetables and fruits, Rs 150 crore in poultry and poultry products. Besides, the women SHGs did Rs 11 crore business selling asks.
