October 25, 2020: Assam minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma has said that no Miya museum to be allowed to be set up in the state. He was reacting to a proposoal of Congress MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed.

The Baghbor MLA had recently wrote to the director of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra proposing to open a museum at the Kalakhetra highlighting the culture and heritage of people living in the char-chapori areas.

Terming the Kalakhetra as a treasure house of Assamese art, heritage and culture, Dr. Sharma in strong words said that the BJP government would not allow any such museum to be set up anywhere in the state. He also referred to his recent allegations about an attack on the Assamese civilisations and said that during last year's CAA agitation, the Kalakhetra was targeted.

He also criticised Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan for the latter's comment supporting Badruddin Ajmal as Assam CM.
