August 22, 2020: KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi will be one of the candidates for the Assam chief minister's post in 2021. Gogoi's name was formally announced by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity on Saturday.





KMSS leader Bhasco D Saikia in a press meet at its headquarters announced Gogoi's name for the chief minister's post. He also announced the launching of a new political outfit of the KMSS. "The party will be a completely new outfit. It will be a regional party with an uncompromising characteristic. The constitution and agendas of the new party are ready. The party will give thrust on making the state self-reliant federally and economically," he revealed.





Hoping that Akhil Gogoi will get bail soon, Saikia said that the name of the party will be announced after Gogoi's release. He also cleared that the party will not forge alliance with any other party and the seats to be contested will be decided later on.
