October 9, 2020: Bodo People's Front(BPF) president cum Bodo Territorial Council(BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilari and BPF leader Chandan Brahma have cheated the Bodos residing outside the BTAD areas. This was alleged by Bodo leaders from outside the BTAD on Friday.

A total of 705 members of United Bodo People's Organisation(UBPO) and 50 BPF members joined the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) at a function held at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra. They were welcomed to the party by chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma and state BJP chief Ranjit Dass.

UBPO president Mihineswar Basumatari alleged that both Hagrama and Brahma did not want the prosperity of the Bodos outside the BTAD and had even opposed inclusion of Sonitpur and Biswanath Chariali in the Bodo Kachari Autonomous Council. Brahma had opposed the Council both at the cabinet and in the assembly, he said. Basumatari accused Mohilari and Brahma of doing politics in the name of Bodos outside the BTAD.

Addressing the newly joined members, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal called upon the party workers to fight for the rights of the indigenous people like Lachit Borphukan fought against the Mughals.

Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma reiterated his stand on clash of civilisations in the state and said Badruddin Ajmal will decide the fate of Assam 10 years later if not fought for the rights of indigenous people today.
