November 5, 2020: Assam PWD minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma on Thursday laid the foundation of Cassion No. PY-2 of the new bridge between Guwahati and North Guwahati over the Brahmapura river, the 7th bridge across the mighty Brahmaputra.



The 8.3km long bridge will be built at a cost of Rs 2600 cr of which Rs. 500 crore will be provided by the state government. The bridge will be completed by August, 2023.



The bridge will be vital for North East and is expected to boost economic growth of Assam and adjoining states. It will also reduce travel time from Guwahati to North Guwahati and connecting NH31 junction to just 10 minuets, as against the present 45-60 minutes.
