October 11, 2020: Good news for city commuters. The under-construction Ganeshguri Flyover will be opened for public in Durga Puja. Besides, two more flyovers will be constructed on AK Azad Road and Maniram Dewan Road.



Speaking on the occasion of foundation laying ceremony of a new flyover at Maligaon, PWD Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the new flyover at Maligaon area would greatly reduce the traffic congestion and facilitate smooth movement of vehicles and people in the busy area.



He also informed that the flyover at Ganesguri will be completed and open for people in Durga Puja and the flyover at Super Market will be opened on the first day of Bohag.



He said that construction of two more flyovers connecting Guwahati Club to Bamunimaidam and Nepali Mandir to Sarapbhati are under consideration. The minister said that nine foot overbridges in the city will be opened by February.



He highlighted successful completion of the second bridge at Saraighat, Bogibeel, Dhola Sadia Bridge etc. as the mile stones of the present State government’s successful tenure. Lots of development schemes have been taken up for Guwahati city and once completed Guwahati would truly become the gateway to South East Asia, he added.
