August 28, 2020: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday protested against the Centre's decision to hold the NEET and JEE examinations.

The Congress workers led by state chief Ripun Bora gathered at the Guwahati Club Rotary and staged protest displaying placards and shouting slogans.

Bora, talking to DY365, alleged that by going ahead with the examination, the centre has put the lives if the candidates to risk amidst the Covid scare. "The government's arrogance prevents it from postponing the examination despite several state governments and various organisations demanding it. While the community transmission is increasing rapidly, holding the examinations at this time will increase the risk of large-scale infection among the students."

The Congress is observing nationwide protest against the Centre's decision to hold the examination as per schedule starting from September 1 to September 13.
