Several passengers on Saturday expressed their apprehension to DY365 about Covid-19 transmission as maintaining social distancing with 100% seating capacity was not possible inside the buses.



The operation of city buses and long distance buses resumed on Friday after the transporters withdrew the indefinite chakka bandh.



The transporters called off the Chakka Bandh on Thursday following assurances from the government to fulfill their demands.



Their decision came following the government agreeing to their demands. The health and family welfare department has agreed to the transport department's proposal to allow carrying of 100% seat capacity.



However, the department issued an SOP for the passenger vehicles to follow. These include the vehicles will not carry passengers beyond seat capacity. no passenger to be allowed to travel standing in the vehicle, no passenger will be allowed to board without wearing mask, vehicle owners will ensure availability of sanitiser in the vehicle, vehicles will be sanitised after completion of every journey, driver and staff will wear masks at all times in the vehicle.



The indefinite Chakka Bandh which started on Monday was called demanding a fare hike citing loss due to the carrying of 50% passengers.
