October 10, 2020: Assam Government is planning to buy Covid-19 vaccines from the fund it received as donation under the Assam Arogya Nidhi. A total of 180 crores have been collected so far since the government sought funds under it to fight Covid-19 few months back. This was informed by Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma.



Dr. Sharma on Saturday launched a scheme for benefit of children suffering from 4 critical ailments. He launched 'Snehasparsha' scheme under which liver/kidney/bone marrow transplant patients and heart ailment patients below 12 years of age will get free treatment. On 10th day of every month, there will be a special screening camp to identify children who need help under Snehasparsha.



He also distributed Rs. 2.38 crores to 180 beneficiaries of the Assam Arogya Nidhi. Since 2012, under Assam Arogya Nidhi, Assam Govt has disbursed Rs. 25.45 cr to 3662 beneficiaries.
